About Karon Beach
Located on the west coast of Phuket, Karon Beach is a long, magnificent stretch of powdery sand kissed by turquoise waters. Karon Beach is the third longest beach in Phuket, and is a popular spot for beach volleyball and football (soccer) games.
Along the winding stretch of beach, there are a few sections with a splattering of trees which provide respite from the sun’s rays. The beach is as wide as it is long which allows for holidaymakers to never feel like they are being overcrowded.
Karon Beach is a well-loved holiday destination in Phuket and the beach is a popular favorite. It should be noted that towards the southern end of the beach there is very good snorkeling as well as a some decent diving spots.
The Karon Beach neighborhood
The entire Karon Beach neighborhood is quite lively, and its roads offer paved footpaths and sidewalks making the area good for an evening stroll. There are a wide variety of local shops in the area selling souvenirs, as well as affordable places to stop in for a foot massage and plenty of locations to eat and drink.
Sunsets at Karon Beach are breathtaking and there are a few upscale dining choices with open air patios and rooftops to sit, grab a bite and a drink while watching the sun set on an epic day. The majority of these upscale spots are located behind the sandy beachfront and easily spotted.
Karon Beach hosts a lot of popular choices for nightlife, and the action happens towards the southern end of the beach. Venues for dancing, drinking, playing pool and watching live music are abundant here.
Karon Beach activities
Most of the activities in Karon Beach are centered around the beach with favorites being parasailing, surfing, snorkeling and swimming. As previously mentioned on our Kata Ocean View Residences blog, the Karon Temple Market is also worth visiting, and the entire neighborhood is easy to canvas on foot and explore.
